The Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt is perhaps best known for his works The Kiss and the Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer (The Woman in Gold) with their luminous use of gold and silver leaf, but he was also an accomplished draughtsman and landscape artist.

It explores the inspirations and subjects that led this remarkable visionary to experiment with a variety of media and create works as diverse as decorations for the theatres and palaces of Vienna, textile designs, romantic landscapes, and sensual, often erotic, representations of womanhood.
